Survivor Nicaragua Episode 3 Elimination the Tribe has Spoken

This weeks episode was a little surprising but not a total shocker. Espada tribe, the ole fogies you might say lost another challenge and reward which was combined into one. Contestants from LaFore tribe had the opportunity to use their medallion of power which would have given them a small advantage and lead in the challenge. They chose not to which proved to be the correct decision as they didn't need it.

Tribe members had to roll 10 barrels onto small platforms and stand them all up forming a backwards looking bowling pin set-up. Then race back to a mat, once everyone from their tribe was on the mat they were allowed to begin tossing sand bags on top of each standing barrel. The first tribe to get all their barrels with a bag on it won.

Jimmy Johnson being the leader of Espada chose Tyrone to do their tossing and he started off with a flurry landing nearly all of his first (6) bags on top of a barrel. Something went wrong however and he went cold and began to have plenty of trouble getting any more to stick. He blamed it on the barrels saying, "they were getting farther away as I went". In the background Jimmy T. (not to be confused with Jimmy J.) was complaining that he could do better and basically said, "put me in coach I'm ready to play". He was allowed to toss a few bags after the reluctant Tyrone gave in and gave up his position of thrower. It proved to be too little too late as LaFore had now jumped ahead and pulled the win off with Ben at the helm.

So once again Espada was sent back to their camp without the much needed win and food that was the reward. Having to decide who goes home proved not to be a difficult decision for most of it's members. Clearly some thought Jimmy Johnson was the weakest link while a few like Jane had second thoughts and didn't want to see him go. In the end however the choice was nearly unanimous and Jimmy J. was the 3rd person voted off Survivor Nicaragua.

As disappointed as he clearly was I'm sure he was ready to get back to his warm bed, cold glass of wine or what ever his millions of dollars he already has buys him. He didn't need the money and stressed that all along attempting to manipulate the others into allowing him to progress. It didn't work and a weak and haggard looking Jimmy got his fire extinguished and was sent down the dark trail of elimination.

Looking ahead it will be interesting to see how LaFore reacts to winning the challenge and reward. Will they be able to keep it together with the she devil NaOnka in their midst? Upon reaching for the reward basket, NaOnka the physical ed teacher and Kelly Bruno the medical student with a prosthetic leg, both saw a note in the basket of fruit and spices. And you know what that means, a note with clues to a hidden immunity idol.

This is where some of the riskiest play comes in as far as any previous Survivor has ever underhandedly  committed. Burning or stealing someones socks, filling 1600 dollar reptile skin shoes with sand and throwing them into the ocean or burning a favorite hat doesn't compare. (let's not forget the 'snakes and rat' speech) It's a game, do not get confused about this or misinterpret that aspect, but to make yourself look like such an ass and bully is uncalled for in many serious minded viewers' opinion.

Again it's only a game and if you enter it with this firmly in mind then just because you only have one leg so to speak, then you know this is not going to necessarily be an advantage. In this case it worked against Kelly. Doubt we've seen anything yet, wait till the finale. I have a feeling it will be just as dramatic as the first seasons finale when Susan Hawk performed her 'rat and snake' speech directed at Kelly and Richard, the top two finishers.

The "rats and snakes" moment is arguably the most remembered moment in Survivor history, as the season one finale was the highest rated episode of Survivor to date and it was the first (but not the last) time in Survivor that anyone ever expressed such bitterness and anger. Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade, "best-of" list.

NaOnka is the new Susan in my opinion. She would take the clothes off your back if you gave her the chance and it meant she would win a cool $1,000,000. Plus she has balls big enough to let you know she'd do it again if you give her an opportunity. All the while informing you that she don't like you, she loves you but it's a game lest your forget. She took the opportunity to knock Kelly B. out of the way and without hesitation grabbed the note with the clues to the idol.

This is why I like you NaOnka because of your agressive play, your straightforward hold no punches attitude and honesty. Your making the game exciting and fun to watch. Without you there would be no Survivor this year. It's not going unnoticed however, several of her tribe members clearly saw what she did and are now whispering amongst themselves on how cruel not only her mouth is but her play in the game too. I say they are intimidated and this will cost them the game but it may also cost her a shot at the $1,000,000.

Regardless, upon entering the game you need some type of strategy and self discipline but most of all you need to take some risk and play your own game not allowing others who played before you to coach you into a different mindset of play. This is what I assume happened to Shannon the most recent casualty. If you don't allow yourself to be yourself and play your own game then we'll read about you in the funny paper on Thursdays.

All I can say is NaOnka watch out you may be the next to go and if your not it's only because your tribe won another challenge or your tribe members know that you have no chance in hell of winning the game based on your social play and decide to keep you around for this reason. I say win every challenge and find all the immunity idols and bring daddy home a cool $1,000,000. Come on don't vote the only exciting player of this seasons game off.!
