So, now that we’ve seen Claire Champlin get hit by a watermelon and emerge, somehow, without a broken face, let’s talk about Brook. The clip from Amazing Race shows her as saying, “You gotta finish [the competition]” seconds after Claire claims she can’t see straight and that her face is numb.
In her Youtube defense, Roberts says that she’s a victim of heavy editing and that in reality an hour had passed since the watermelon bigger than Roberts’ head had connected with her face. “I was definitely very compassionate,” says the self-professed “good friend” to Champlin. The word compassionate is mentioned three times in the span of one minute and 41 seconds—okay, we get the idea. That she rubbed Champlin’s back and made sure she had water, there’s little doubt. But let’s keep an eye on the big picture, here. Clair got smashed in the face with a watermelon—something dense and heavy enough to give most women and a lot of men pause in the grocery store. She took one to the face. It really doesn’t matter how much time passed, does it? The point is that Brook declared, “You gotta finish.” Wouldn’t the “good friend” thing to do be to ask Champlin if she even wanted to finish? Hey, whatever, she’s her friend, not mine.
In which case rises another question: why hasn’t Champlin come to Roberts’ defense? Roberts claims that despite all the hurtful attention paid to her on national TV by Anderson Cooper and E!’s “The Soup,” she’s also been offered time on other reality TV shows. Is the lack of a she’s-a-good-friend video from Champlin part of an unspoken scheme to keep the offers rolling in for Roberts, or was Roberts as good a friend to Champlin as the defensive Jewelry Television personality claims?
Here’s a video of Roberts’ defense to decide for yourself:
