Chillaxin ~~ Happy New Year!

The time of sitting
has come and gone
I must get up
as the sun with dawn
and put my life
into order - and yet
I think I'd rather
just dream and sit!

How to Go Green and Save by Not Flushing Your Money

Everyone, including those of future generations, has a right to a clean, productive natural environment. Having been raised on a farm taught me the importance of a fresh healthy product. Today it has become less and less important except for those who have turned to Green Living. We purchase so many things for single use. Remember when the milk man left the glass bottle on your step? Probably not, but I bet you do remember the last time you threw out a plastic jug used for milk, pop or water.

Speaking of water, it's a great way to start saving money and go green at the same time. Do a web search and you can find anything from dual flush toilets, faucet aerators, to low-flow showerheads. Shower water use can be reduced 50% with a low-flow showerhead, and can save up to 20,000 gallons of water per year. How big is your family? Low-Flow toilets can also amount to a huge savings not only in water but you won't be flushing your money as well. Any green Eco living attempt is an attempt to improve our environment and  our quality of life.

Check toilet tanks--add a few drops of food coloring into the tank. If the toilet is leaking, color will appear in the water in the bowl within 30 minutes. Install a dual flush kit device in the toilet tank. This will cut down on the amount of water needed per flush.

I know there are some who will think outside the box and come up with other ideas to save. The quality of human life depends on our living lives of purpose and meaning. Next time you flush think about it. Just saying.

The Open Seas of Blogging

Do you ever feel like your blog is a raft all alone in the open seas of the worldwide web? No one will ever find you and it'll just eventually sink and be forgotten. If so what are you doing about this? I found a forum the other day and a former blogger on there stated that she was sad. Sad because she had spent 3 years investing in that blog, enjoyed mostly every part of it for that amount of time, but now no longer felt like blogging anymore. Wow I thought. I very nearly became sad for her as well, but it no longer was fun for her and she couldn't figure out why. I wonder if it was because it became more like a job than a project, or the fact that she had reached a goal that no longer had any other level for her to obtain.

I've only been blogging for a relatively short time and let me tell you, it is a lot of work to promote my blog. I spend countless hours sometimes researching -- How to Improve Your Blog -- and for the most part all answers point to the following: (not in any particular order I might add)
  • Good Content
  • Reliable Links
  • Variety
  • Provide Value
  • Encourage Participation
  • Have a Plan
  • Hustle
  • Use Social Media (i.e.Twitter)
  • Be Consistent
  • Good Design
While these are extremely important it is only a few really. One thing that I'd like to mention as well is the importance of being confident in your own knowledge and take advantage of such. There are definitely enough blogs out there to seem like an open sea but I plan on becoming at least a whale even if I have to feed on the plankton for a while. Hey what's wrong with plankton? Even a whale can survive off of it.

Seriously though I'm finding it a lot of work, but work that I enjoy. No matter what I've done in the past, I've always tried to be the best at what I do. If I fall short then it's because of my lack of effort and not reaching out to others. Reaching out to others and paying it forward is important in all things in life. You can only keep what you have by giving it away. When I leave a comment on someones blog post, and I frequently do, very rarely will that person NOT get back to me if I have a legitimate question about blogging or whatever the hell the post is about. In fact they thrive on this. For those who don't get back to me I don't take it personal. I choose not to as this only feeds my own self-doubt. So I tell you to be persistent, confident and let's not forget to have some patience. Like I previously said I have only been blogging for a short time and my blogs are slowing improving in content value and local readership. Oh, and by the way I dislike those, "Get Traffic for Free", "Gain unlimited Followers Immediately" enticements. Maybe they work, maybe they don't I want mine to be legit and of my own efforts. Not something I have to buy. Just Saying.

Advertisers Agree Content is King but Links are The Key

While everyone including ProBloggers preach that 'Content is King' and it is in order to reach, sustain and intrigue your readers, for Advertisers the simple 'Link' is your most valuable asset to them.

Recently I came across a thread in a forum with statements directly from advertisers. Here's what one had to say, "As an advertiser who has done business with over 300 blogs From Pr 1 to Pr 5<------$40 to $60 blogs. We got less then 2% visitors out of it. Mostly only within 1st month and 0 conversions. But we are still here and the only reason we are here is for Links. So if the goal is to make money while blogging you as a publisher should be doing everything you can do to make your links more valuable to advertisers and the 1st step would be to host your blog on your domain name."-Russell R--Advertiser SEO Consultant

What we see here is that Russell refers to the most important assest for him from bloggers is the links. And in order to get them to hire you for their link placement in such places as PPP4, Social Spark, and Blogvertise--Just to name a few-- is to have your own domain name. Even better yet get your own domain and have it hosted using one of the many webhosting services out there.

Currently this is where I am at with my short term goals as a blogger. When I first started blogging I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Though I still don't know a lot what I do know is that I still have so much more to learn. Having my own domain name hosted on a different server is my New Years Resolution! As I go through this process I will gladly keep you informed about how it is going for me. In the meantime if your reading this and have some issues or concerns and even better yet if you have some helpful advice I would love to hear from you.

BackTweets ~ Interested in Who's Talking About Your Website or Brand

Are you on Twitter? Do you have a website or do you Blog? If so are you interested in seeing who may be talking about you? I found this and wanted to share it with you in case your not familiar with it. BackTweets is a search engine for links on Twitter. Enter a URL (the service will auto-resolve shortened ones) and see the conversations and tweets that reference that link. I can see where a lot of businesses would use this service to keep track of conversations about their brand or products. By setting up email (takes 1/2 a minute) you can also receive pretty much up to the minute alerts. BackTweets.com/alerts

At first I was a little skeptical in searching through all the tweets about a specific site. I was looking for a particular day and time frame and didn't want to spend an hour or two clicking the next button to get there. Then I noticed that there is an advanced search that takes care of that for us too. You’re able to filter link searches by date (going back approx.12 weeks), as well as the user that tweeted and the user the tweet was in response to. These parameters are also available in the BackTweets API for advanced users. And now there’s a tweet counter at the bottom of the search results so you can see exactly how many times the URL you searched for has been tweeted.

(Founders of BackType @michaelmontano and @golda, created BackTweets. It's a small side project they spun out of backtype.com/connect.)

Mortgage Industry Whoa's... Don't Get Locked In Do Your Research

With the upheaval in the mortgage industry this past year, it can be a very long and sometimes difficult process to secure a home loan. Some have asked if there are any lenders out there that can do a quick loan that is painless so it is possible to move into that new home.
The answer is yes, but you must be very cautious when moving forward with a quick loan. Sure, there are lenders and mortgage brokers promising easy home loans. All too often, these are ads that lure you in to their offices with the promise of low rates, no points and a rapid process. Once you have signed the initial paperwork, they come back with apologies that the application process did not go as planned and you find yourself with higher interest rates, you are being charged points and closing fees will be more costly than anticipated. Add to that, your loan will take a month or two longer to process than anticipated.
While this scenario is common, it does not always have to take place. When looking for an easy home loan process, stick with reputable lenders and mortgage brokers. Your goal is to find a loan that is beneficial for you. Use local resources and try online lenders as well. Do some comparisons and look for the best terms on a loan. It can’t hurt to mention to those you are searching through that a rapid loan completion with the right rate for you is a priority and you are shopping around.
Never commit to a loan with out knowing for sure that it contains the best rate and terms for you. Remember, you are the prospective home buyer and you want the best deal for your needs. The lenders are out there to make money, and may just be looking to get the best deal for them to improve there overall bottom line!

They are looking out for themselves Not You! Wanna fall prey, you will if you don't do your research.

Wrestling With "Success" Are You? Self-Confidence is Needed Self Worth is Important

Having self confidence and maintaining high self esteem are important to success. When these are both high, you can achieve almost anything. You can realize all of your dreams and improve your finances, health and relationships. With high self worth and self esteem you are more likely to be successful than those with lower levels or folks who are down on themselves.

Self confidence is what other people see in you with respect to your appearance, career and finances. It is society’s impression of you based on how you present yourself, how you appear and what you do for a living. It is a personal status for you and people judge that.

Self esteem is an inner feeling about how you see yourself. This is a personal judgment on your emotional and spiritual balance and is reflected in your presence of mind. Self esteem is built when you feel good about who you are regardless of external circumstances. It means you are happy with who you are, and goes a long way to helping you realize your goals in life and personal achievements.

Shizzle This: No More Catheads ~ Makin Gravy is Easier Than Blogging

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Club House. All opinions are 100% mine.

I remember the first time that I ever attempted to make gravy. It wasn't good. In fact we (at the time I didn't know it) called it cathead gravy because the lumps where the size of catheads. OK so I was only 12 yrs. old. I was a farm kid and at times had to fend for myself with both parents working their tail off. I got much better over time and I hope to accomplish the same with my blogging skills. One way I've been able to do both is to take advantage of all the Web has to offer.

In searching for an easier softer way to make gravy I think I've found it with a gravy tips video from Club House. Not only does this look fun, simple, quick and easy, I can't wait till Christmas Dinner try it. If it is like it says then it'll help us make great tasting gravy with no stress or fuss and best of all no more catheads! OK you can stop laughing now, I may not become a Problogger but I bet my gravy will be better than yours if you don't try it.

Watching the video makes Gravy look easy to prepare and hopefully delivers great taste our family will love. If only preparing my next blog post was as easy as preparing gravy for the Christmas meal I could work the catheads out of it too. Check out the site, newsletter sign-up and contest entry form and maybe you will Win. If not at least you can get some help in making great tasting gravy with no stress or fuss! Gosh I can still see the family looking at my first gravy attempt wondering if there was something else to eat besides my lumpy gravy. Seriously, I'll never forget it.

"He Who Wishes to Be Rich in A Day Will Be Hanged in A Year" ~ Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci said in the year 1500: "He who wishes to be rich in a day will be hanged in a year."

There are no shortcuts to riches even in blogging. Most get-rich-quick schemes are either illegal or take advantage of people.

I really got to thinking about this quote from such an admired Man. When most common folk think of Leonardo da Vinci they think of the 'Mona Lisa' or 'The Last Supper'. He was much more than just an artist and painter. Oh he was much more than that. He was an Italian polymath, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and writer. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance man, a man whose unquenchable curiosity was equaled only by his powers of invention.

In other words it tells me he worked his ass off to satisfy what was going on upstairs and to reach his goals. Not ever taking any shortcuts to obtain his wealth, which was much more than riches. It was what made him Happy. Leonardo had many friends who are now renowned either in their fields or for their historical significance. He learned much of what he accomplished by adopting their techniques. He was an opportunity seeker.

I like what Seth Godin says in his Get Rich Quick talk. He tells me it's about satisfying my curiosity. Fulfilling a dream. "It seems that being an opportunity seeker is about seeking, not finding," he says. Although it may not turn out to be what I hoped it would be, I'll continue to hope. In doing so I surely won't be hanged in a year, you think? At least not for "WISHING" because I'm not much of a wisher I'm a doer.

Oh and did I mention that He was a writer too?

Secret Stuff: Is Your Computer Protected?

Antivirus (or anti-virus) software is used to prevent, detect, and remove  malware, including computer viruses, worms, and trojan horses. Such programs may also prevent and remove adware, spyware, and other forms of malware.

Currently I use the software that came with my Provider. It seems to work really well and as recent as yesterday I was reading about an NFL Player who had filed suit in a copyright dispute against Tila Tequila. She had apparently used his trademark company name on her website without permission. So curious me decided to see what she placed on her website that she had apparently infringed upon. Bam, nearly a huge mistake. I say nearly because my Antivirus software detected a virus immediately upon her homepage without even clicking on anything. As soon as the page opened I was warned and got the hell outta there. Now what kind of malicious attack it could have been I'm not sure. It was removed and I was just glad I had a decent enough protection to be forewarned.

Free antivirus programs vary just as much as paid security programs do in the quality of their protection. And there are many free ones to choose from. To help you figure out which free antivirus app is right for you, PC World put packages from all of those companies through their paces. To see their outcomes and best reviews you can go here, PC World Free Antivirus Software Reviews.

However, no matter how useful Free and paid antivirus software is, it can sometimes have drawbacks. An inexperience on our part in understanding the prompts could cause a breach. Detection can decrease over extended periods of usually around a year. Running multiple antivirus programs at once can degrade performance and cause system related issues.

Free subscriptions have fewer scanning options, less frequent updates, automatically change your default browser (which you can return to your default) and force you to run ads with certain apps. No Free online support (only in forums) and more. I definitely recommend using paid services or at least doing a thorough check when opting for Free vs. Paid. Also check with your service provider as you may even have protection that you are unaware of and already paying for you just need to sign up and download. And installed antivirus software running on an individual computer is only one method of guarding against viruses. Other methods are also used, including cloud-based antivirus, firewalls and on-line scanners.

TGIF ~~ Whoa It's Friday Time to Put the Brakes On

Do you ever feel overwhelmed to keep up with the ever changing Internet and the new sites that are exploding and popping on the scene overnight? Find yourself reading one copywriter after another only to be at a sense of loss in what they are trying to say or get you to buy? Is their content valuable enough for me to purchase or should I just keep clicking through to the next great copywriter? According to a Copywriter Job Description Web copy is perhaps the fastest growing avenue of copywriting. Web copy must be short, pithy, and to the point. It must also be easy to read. Web copy often contains search engine optimization techniques such as keywords. And you must be able to catch the readers attention, keep and inform them as well as entertain and Bam your a good storyteller. Sounds easy enough. Think again. Even the best Copywriters need help to keep up in today's social media. They tweet, they Facebook, they blog and are forever looking for new ideas to broaden their audience.

I logged into Twitter this morning to see what people are saying that I could possibly benefit from. Not from the geeks who just post #FF, Follow Friday's. If it's for you then OK more power to ya. No one says that you can or can't get your followers on Friday. My point is how many did you get during the week by posting an honest important tweet or update your FaceBook status with something other than Tiger Woods comments?

Seth Godin is a good read for me as He is usually straight to the point and keeps me interested. But the one I seem to always come back to in hopes of learning the most from is Chris Brogan who has a nice piece of read about Friends list today.(I found this out on Twitter) He is also acknowledged by the New York Times' Barbara Taylor today in Business Books Worth Finding Time to Read. She says, "I credit Chris Brogan’s blog and tweets with teaching me most of what I know about social media marketing".

Who teaches You the most? I'd like to hear. I can think of others who are up and coming and that I enjoy searching and gaining knowledge from but I'd also like to hear your favorites.

Bidazzled the Next Big Thing in Online Auctions

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bidazzled. All opinions are 100% mine.

What I like about Bidazzled is that it was launched as an online auction market in order to fund a good cause. The Ruch Foundation. The Jimmy Ruch Fund exists to promote awareness, treatment alternatives and resources for Small Cell Lung Cancer. Here's a place where nobody loses. With bids purchased at a very low cost and the 5 Free bids just for signing up are really a great deal. They also have a huge incentive for you in a referral program. It really is a win win penny type auction site where you purchase bids in advance and sit back and possibly even win a laptop for only a dollar. In their first month, there have been 2 winners of Nintendo Wii's who have won with just their 5 free bids!

Check out some of the Highlights below and visit their site for better overview and other Exclusives offers:

*Auction winners usually save over 80% off retail.

*Nobody Loses:

-If you don't win, you receive up to 50 Bonus Bids as a thank you for participating, and

-You can purchase the auction item less the investment you had in the auction.

-If you win, Bidazzled typically make an offer to buy the item back for either:

-cash (paypal or check)

- cash and bids

-bids

What a Great Idea for a Great Cause that benefits everyone!

How To Get Rich Quick Blogging

I'm asking not telling. For one thing I don't have the answer and that makes me the luckiest guy in the world. Really it does. It should be put as a question like, "How DO I get rich quick blogging"? A. You Won't!

My Blog Title might be renamed after this post to say "Lucky Lee's Blog". You say why does this make me the luckiest guy in the world? I'll tell you it's because I probably couldn't continue to do what I love on my time. And then I'd have to push this e-book in the top corner or you'd have to sign up with your email to read this. You'd be reading guest post instead of mine, I'd have to comment to all the millions of visitors. So then I'd have to hire help cause I sure wouldn't have time to do that because I'd be interviewing the next guest post wanna be.

I can just hear some of y'all now, "Make me unlucky, I want to get rich quick"! I say better go buy a lottery ticket or invent a product worth millions or hundreds of millions, because your not going to get 'Rich Quick' by blogging. It's just not going to happen. Unless your idea of rich and quick is different than mine be ready to stay for the long haul. Get you ducks in a row, provide good content, comment and provide links in the social media marketplace and find your niche. Not necessarily in that order either. Just how motivated are you?

Oh sure I'm beginning to make a few dollars here and there using some of the affiliate programs, some of the pay me to post sites, but I'm sure I'm making them more than they are making me. I'm learning some of what not to do right along with some of the important aspects of Internet Marketing and I know I've only yet begun to really learn anything in this blogosphere of making money. And if that isn't enough, stick around for a few and you'll see how it can change overnight at times with new approaches, new targets and new adventures of juke'n and jive'n just to keep up.

Someday I may have my own e-book and guest posters and hired help. I Seriously doubt it'll be about how to get rich quick though. I hate those guys who's blog you visit and they claim to know how to 'make YOU' rich quick. Then they tell you to hurry up cause my e-book or this program disc of tutorials is only available for this price for a few weeks. Then it's going to increase 10 fold and you won't be able to afford it. No what they should really say is it will be obsolete and nobody will no longer want it. Just Saying.

Cyber School ~ How to Be Part of The Elite USC Trojan Family

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

Why do students flock to the online learning environment? The most obvious answer - Students can "attend" a course at anytime, from anywhere. This means that parents can attend to their children, then sit down to class; working students can attend classes no matter what their work schedule might be, folks that travel for business or pleasure can attend class from anywhere in the world that has Internet access. While "brick and mortar" institutions will never be eliminated, it's easy to see why a growing number of people are attending class in the cyber world. They may be reasons of accessibility, flexibility or quality, all compelling and contributing to the attractiveness of this mode of learning. If this sounds like you then why not 'Master the Art of Teaching' and receive your degree through a Prestigious online degree program; The USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT@USC. For more program information .
  •  Accelerated program you can complete in as little as 12 months
  • Earn a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from an internationally renowned research institution with a 100-year history of educating teachers to be agents of change
  • A School of Education which has been ranked #22 in the United States, and #9 among all private universities by US News and World Report.
  • An innovative combination of highly interactive online learning with field-based experiences in your local area.
  • A groundbreaking tuition reimbursement program designed exclusively for MAT@USC graduates.
  • The opportunity to learn from distinguished USC faculty recognized for their contributions to modern education.
  • Full USC student status and benefits, participation in commencement ceremonies and free lifetime Alumni Association memberships
With more and more students earning degrees online than ever before, with those numbers increasing each and every year, online degrees are as respected as "on the ground" degrees.

Twitter It's Like sex Without a Condom

Wow did he just say that? No I typed it silly! Seriously though what is twitter all about? My friend asked me the other day, "What's all the Shiz about this thing called twitter"? Only thing I could come up with was it is like having sex without a condom. Of course she looked at me quite funny and then I cleaned it up. I explained to her that with only being able to tweet 140 characters or less, for gals it's like a quickie, and for the guys it's like having to pull out before it's too late.

If you go over to Facebook you will darn near find her on there having said something within the past hour or less. She's a social media junkie. Someone who likes to stay connected spending time with those she otherwise wouldn't be able to. And really that's what both sites are about. I spend time when I can interacting on both.

Whether you have friends on Facebook or Followers on Twitter your involved in today's interaction of the growing social media mindset. It's like the microwave of the 70's. Facebook for now is a lot more intimate interaction, while Twitter is a lot more self-promotion. So whether you Tweet on Twitter or you update your status and comment on Facebook you have your reasons and they work for you. I don't encourage anyone to move over from one to the other because my reasoning and ways of interacting differ from yours I'm sure. I actually prefer to blog as it gives me the ability to express myself using more than 140 characters. My friend reminded me that size is not important it's the technique that matters!

Gotta Be Aggressive While Walking That Dog: Day 5 Risks

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal" Henry Ford

Be Aggressive
If you want to succeed In marketing and more specifically blogging using the social media you 'Must Be Aggressive'. What importance I want to stress as much as what my life has been consisting of lately is pure aggression. Be the Tim Tebow of the blogosphere. For those of you who live under a rock, Tim is the most talked about quarterback in the NCAA. After a stunning loss last year at home to Ole Miss Tebow gave the fans and media a speech. Here's what he said, "You will never see any player in the entire country who will play harder than I will play the rest of the season," he said. "And you will not see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody for the rest of the season, and you will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season." His Coach Urban Meyer had those words engraved on a plaque and placed outside the front entrance to the new football facility at Florida Field. This speech was made after the loss to Ole Miss took away an undefeated season for the Gators. In case you don't know Tim Tebow and Florida has not lost a game since.

Walk The Dog
You say what does his speech have to do with me and the blogosphere? Probably nothing, absolutely nothing to you. I have never succeeded in anything to what I didn't set my goals high, usually higher than what others think I or themselves could ever accomplish. If you believe that is what Tim was thinking when he shared with his fans and the rest of the world how hard and aggressive he would approach his goals then your hopefully on the right track to take some risks. What he did was take a huge risk by being vulnerable and admitting he needed to work harder in front of the whole world or at least the competitive media society in order to reach his goals.

Take Risk in Setting Goals
I am an aggressive risk taker and I set goals using these to push others but mainly myself. So I super-sized it. At least to some I'm sure I did. Remember these are the ones who see [obstacles], think that certain goals can't be reached. Reached by you or anyone and believe that others who have achieved said goals did so by fate, luck and or whatever completes the success or failure in their lives. Call it what you will I call it taking risks in an aggressive manner all the while keeping your eyes on your goal and not the obstacles.

Every since 60 minutes did a segment discussing the positive results of Resveratrol Supplements it has created a huge interest in what is believed to be maybe one of the most complex and beneficial herbal supplements available.

Media quotes, “Red wine ingredients delay ageing” and “resveratrol may prolong life and fight aging”

All natural herbal extract from plant root resveratrol is high in antioxidants. Actually that's what caught my attention to further look into this. Learning from my past medical exams that I need to increase my intake of antioxidants I wanted something other than red wine, peanuts and grapes. For quite a few years now resveratrol has been the subject of some of the most research in anti aging arena but has just recently been available in purified form. Does that mean that Resveratrol Reviews are all good. I should think not but the benefits tend to out weigh the negatives. Resveratrol supplement also has molecules that provide a natural cleanse of muscle and fat tissue caused by years of clogging due to airborne and terrestrial toxins. Taking in a safe Resveratrol dosage can be the beginning of breaking down process which will naturally help lose weight and trim fatty areas.

The most important thing is in choosing the right Resveratrol supplement. You will find a No Risk - Free Trial Offer Available   here and you only need to pay S&H. There are many reviews on the site as well discussing the health benefits of taking Resveratrol. Will we as humans gain the same benefits, such as a lessor chance of certain cancers, suffer less from heart disease and diabetes? One may not know until a much longer period of research is done. I'm not sure I am willing to wait 20 years to find out. So visit there site, look at the reviews and make your own decision.
