Jim Harrison, Author, Eventual Legend

While going through withdrawls from the lack of 'No Reservations' episodes, new ones that is, I was thumbing through the outskirts of some photo's that Bourdain has on his Travel Channel site, and lo and behold there is none other than Jim Harrison. The someday legendary author (if not already) of outdoorsy novels. I did not know that he had written "Legend's of The Fall", one of my all time favorite movie films.
I had seen him on one of Anthony's shows a short while back. Montana. Jim was featured in that particular shoot because he has a summer home up there, loves to hunt and write all the while getting back to the simple life and lot's of good food. As he gingerly puts it, "That's why I like it here, it has absolutely nothing to do with life in our time."
These days he simply states the pen hits the paper and he is putting them out quicker than he and Jack Nicholson use to put down food and spirits. Jim your my hero, think I will surely look for 'Returning to Earth' in print or maybe someday in a major motion picture. Thanks my friend.

The first pic is Jim and Zilpha his favorite hunting partner, and the second is his front yard in Montana sitting with Anthony Bourdain during the No Reservation shoot up there.

Travel Channel Shout Out

No Reservations. Just a quick shout out to Tony and the crew for their big win at the Emmy's. Todd Liebler and Zach Zamboni have sacrificed a lot traversing around the world attempting to keep up with him. Well it looks like it paid off Tony and no one was more happier than he. The crew won for best Cinematography in non-fiction category, the one that they all wanted the most. As they were up for three nominations in all. If you don't watch the show or missed any of them you can catch reruns of this seasons "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel at various times. Congrats on such a well put together show.

BIG BROTHER 11 FINALE WINNER IS

Jordan Wins Big Brother season 11

Tonight's winner of Big Brother is finally revealed and the winner is Jordan. The jury was mixed and shared a lot of emotion with the outcome. It came down to the final two of Natalie and Jordan. Both had alliances seemingly to carry them through and it paid off. In the sum of $500,000 dollars. Some thought that Natalie played a better game strategically while the others felt that Jordan did. It was close no matter what each said or did as they both out played their house guest. Congratulations Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIG BROTHER 11 FINALE TONIGHT!

With all the hype the past couple of weeks Big Brother finally comes to an end tonight and it should be exciting. Natilie, Kevin and Jordan will vie for the title of Winner of Big Brother 11. Tonight Natilie and Jordan have to compete for the chance to go against Kevin to see who makes it to the final two. At which time the Jury house will then decide who the winner is. My guess is Kevin, though I think they all three would be worthy of the $500,000 grand prize. Having made it this far says something for a house like that. Surrounded by liars, backstabbers, and loud mouth fools in a place where big brother is watching for a little over 2 months deserves something. Good luck, but I am voting for Jordan if she gets to the final two. And America your vote may count to so go to cbs.com/bb and vote.  photo courtesy of AOL online

Taylor Swift says Kanye not so SWIFT

It seems it took her appearance on the daytime talk show the 'View" for Kanye West to finally reach out and personally apologize to Taylor Swift for his screwed up (and I'm being nice here) behavior. After storming the stage and visibly rattling the young lady by taking the mic from her and basically saying she did not have the best video, he later apologized publicly just not to her personally until today. On the show today she stated that she had yet to hear from him but would talk if he reached out, and later said he did call, so she accepted his apology. She also said she noticed a lot of fans and celebrities had her back.
As for Kanye he knows he has to leave the spotlight for some time, hopefully for good. Your such an ass Kanye. Even the President said your a "JackAss!"

Kanye West Loves FishSticks

Kanye West really did a number on Taylor Swift and his image. Who cares about his image though. He's a monster for grabbing that mike from her during her acceptance speech last night. Here's a spoof of him on South Park. Is he gay or does he just like fishsticks?

Patrick Swayze Dead at 57 as reported by the NYTimes

The well known actor who has battled pancreatic cancer for at least the past two years is dead at the age of 57. He starred in the popular movies Dirty Dancing and Ghost as well as other films. He will be missed I am sure. Above is a picture shortly after his diagnosis 2 years ago, the other is recently his weight only a frail 76lbs. Swayze to me was a trooper in the same since as the beloved Farrah Fawcett who recently passed after fighting with all she had to beat this terrible disease called cancer. Good bye, see ya on the otherside. God Bless

Monday's Are For Bourdain

Tonight Tony goes to Sardinia. His wife's homeland. Mountainous landscapes and fine cuisine. Hope you enjoy. This 30 second video doesn't do much but does show his wife, someone we rarely see.

PAULA DETHRONED BY DEGENERES

While at least up to this point her failed comeback as returning judge on American Idol has been lost, Paula Abdul remains a class act in my eyes. She was very generous on her twitter saying, "I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on idol. She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck." Think she will need some luck to go along with her lack of musical knowledge? Sounds like Paula might. But being in the spotlight is not anything new to Ellen. She entertains an audience daily on the show she host with her namesake, and appears to have a huge following. So at least FOX and American Idol think they'll be fine without Paula. I personally think that there is much more to the story than dollars and it has yet to be revealed, but what do I a lonely blogger know? Best wishes to both Ellen and Paula, she will be missed but I doubt ratings will be effected by her loss and replacement with Ellen. Sure to be awkward in the begining though don't ya think?

LAKE BARKLEY VACATION DESTINATION

I know it's a little late in the season but I wanted to share with you a place that is one of my favorites to spend time on. It's been a few years since I have been here but the memories still linger. Without a doubt, since childhood this lake and Kentucky Lake which is close by, has always been one of my favorite vacation destinations.

It'll Be A Gay Ole Time

Wow! I'm shocked. Am I the last to know or what? Or does anyone care? OK no one cares and that's OK too. But I just noticed where they decided on the new Idol Judge and It's not some bald guy from Indiana. But your beloved Ellen Degeneres. She's funny (at times) knows nothing about music and dances over tables not on them. So will she make a splash or will she crash? That's yet to be seen. I know I will miss Paula though, much sexier than our Lady Ellen. So long Miss Abdul you made Idol what it is or at least was a huge part of that process. Good luck Simon with your new squeeze!

THIS ONES FOR U! MEGAN FOX

                               " JENNIFER'S BODY"
I'm NOT a movie fan as who wants to sit in front of the tv and watch anything unless it's the Travel Channel or NFL Football, especially this time of the year. But I seen this advertised between timeouts during the game and it definitely caught my eye. Can't say for sure if it was Megan Fox or just the suspense and possible thrills it's going to produce, but thought I would put it up for any movie fans that might drop by. Enjoy.

IT'S COOL IF YOU STAY IN SCHOOL

The President of the United States is giving a speech today encouraging children to stay in school, learn while your there and listen to your educators, parents, mentors, grandparents and anyone else who is pointing you in the right direction.
Although this speech is drawing criticisim and some parents are even keeping their kids at home today I am in agreement with it. You can go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/ and see the script of the entire speech. I see nothing in it that is politically motivated to promote politics in school. It has gotten poor reviews from conservative groups as well as individuals accusing him of going to far into local education. I beg to differ. How can encouraging our youth to remain in school be so bad?  How can encouraging them to get their education and become all they can be, be stepping to far into education? If one person becomes all they can be by listening to his speech then I am all for it.
I just hope that the kid who was allowed to stay at home will not be encouraged to make the wrong decision later on and drop out. Having made that decision because they were allowed to do so by their parent. At the end of the day each individual will make their own decision based on what they think is right or because they don't care that that decision affects others negatively. By encouraging them to make the right decision and give them hope that they can do whatever they want if they put in the effort and are willing to make the sacrifices. "No one is born being good at all things. You become good at things by hard work."

Labor Day Weekend

Some say, "ah finally", others not so fast. Who wants the summer to come to an end. That's how most of us view Labor Day. The last chance to enjoy a long weekend of the summer. Go camping, fishing, boating, watch a parade, cookout with the family just plain ole enjoying the cool breeze and begining of what sometimes is a long winter.
However Labor Day was originally thought to be first observed back in 1882 on Sept. 5th for those americans who were struggling to make ends meet on a 12 hour seven day a week work schedule. Those giants (approx. 10,000) who took an unpaid day and marched in Union Square in what was considered a parade. And for some that still goes on today of course. Although as for parades with such meaning not so fast, most are just a day in the sunshine with pay! For others now it's mostly  hard economic times. But who wants to go there and talk about such when it's Labor Day Weekend? Don't be one in Denial of course but enjoy the best you can, with what you have and hopefully your not one of the unfortunate ones who will be working all weekend for minimum wage.
